Step 1. Download and Install video converter for Mac

Step 2. Load AVI video files
The program supports batch mode which means you can load as many as video files at one time. Hit Add File'to select the videos stored on your computer, then click ok to commit.



Step 3. Trim the video
On the top of the panel, you will notice there are Trim, Effect and Crop tabs, each has their own specific function. I'd like to take Trim tab for example.
Click Trim tab will open a window to edit the video. Drag the first slider to a location to set the starting time and drag the second slider to set the ending time. Click ok to commit.



Step 4. Convert video
Hit Convert to convert the entire list of video files to iMovie understandable.



Tips:
Profile: on the bottom of the panel, you are supposed to select output format in the drop down list next to Profile field

Destination: on the bottom of the panel, you are supposed to instruct the program where the output video to store by choosing from the drop down list next to Destination field.

Step 5 Import video to iMovie
First start iMoive, then choose File>Import, next, choose the converted videos you want to import from your project library, finally click Open to import.
